Book 8: The Scourge of the North (49)
Book 8 begins in Angmar at Garth Forthnir and takes place predominantly within Angmar
Speak to Laerdan in his study to accept B8C1: The Flickering Flame. Exit Garth Forthnir and ride south, then east into Nan Gurth.
Approaching from the south head to Minas Agar and make your way into the tower. Be aware that the doors will not open if you are in combat so approach with caution!
Fight and defeat Lauri Goldentongue (level 49 elite master) to retrieve the Gondorian Shield . At the start of the fight all the adds will be "friendly" but he will periodically activate them during the fight. I suggest killing them as they turn hostile as the incoming damage can become troublesome if you end up with all of them attacking you at once.
Return to Laerdan and turn in B8C1 and accept [49]B8C2: Rekindling the Flame
Travel to Esteldin in the North Downs and:
Book 8 is now complete, if you have also completed the previous seven books you will complete the deed The Shadows of Angmar for 20TP and earn a new title.

Continue east a little way to Minas Maur (6.6,22.9) and enter the tower (again, the doors won't open if you are in combat)
Fight and defeat Prakhum to retrieve Goldir's sword. Prakhum is a level 49 Elite Master, he will summon Goblin-town Heralds throughout the fight which buff him and debuff you but he will replace them if you kill them so it's best to just to burn the boss and mop up the heralds at the end (even though they don't directly attack you they count as in-combat and the door won't open until they're dead!)
Finally, head south-east until you can gain the cliff-side path to Minas Angos and enter the tower (again, door cannot be opened in combat)
Fight and defeat Lauri Goldentongue (level 49 elite master) to retrieve the Gondorian Shield . Continue east through the hills to Krusl Lannan (1.3,22.9) and speak to Nethraw to turn in The Secret of the Swords. You are not given any further quests but can now pick up the seven swords by killing the thiefs who stole them. All are humans sitting by campfires:
- Exit the valley and ride north-west to find Husidan (0.4,24.5) in another valley (entrance at 0.0,24.8) and recover The Sword of Manas
- Exit the valley and head south to find Frangan (0.9,24.9) just oustide Ongbishuk and recover The Sword of Kevoka
- Head west to find Dugalad (0.6,26.2) sitting beside the road that runs along the edge of the swamp and recover The Sword of Innis
Follow the path south to Gabilshathur:
- Speak to Avar to turn in Tools of the Orcs. Decline [48] Weaspons of the Orcs as it requires killing several lvl 47 Elite mobs and isn't practical to solo.
- Speak to Guard-Captain Gisur to turn in Breathing-Space and acept [48] The ORc-Raid. Speak to him again to continue the quest. This triggers an assault on the camp, kill the defilers and captains first for an easier fight. Speak to Gisur again to tun in The Orc Raid. Accept [49] Onward to Garth Forthnir
- Speak to Guard Ansurr to accept [48] Gaeruan's Rage
Exit the city and ride north. Find Gaeruan's Nest in the center of the swamp pool (0.1N, 27.1W) and carry the egg north-east until you find the entrance to Grishbalt (2.3,25.6). Run straight past the guards (don't try to fight them) until you reach a large bonfire in the center of the path. This completes the quest - I suggest escaping in the confusion!
Having escaped now return to the entrance and kill Ruuraikh and retrive The Sword of Kolmak
Skirt the camp to the south to find Owen (1.7N, 24.6) and kill him to retried The Sword of Abb
Ride west through the swamp to find Tobaid (2.3,27.8) and retrieve The Sword of Anraig
Ride north, straight through the camp of Mor Madhul to find Brekhin (3.7,27.4) and retrive The Sword of Guinokh
Return south through the swamp then east through the woods to the statues and turn in all 7 Sword quests. This will also complete the deed The Seven Swords and earn you 10TP. Decline [47] The Seven Swords as it requires a fellowship to complete the instance (far too many mobs swapn to solo without Nethraw dying)
Return to Gaibshalthur and speak to Guard Ansurr to turn in Gaeruan's Rage

Book 6: Fires in the North & Western Angmar (42-44)
Book 6 begins in Rivendell, if you followed my guide to Book 5 you are there already, if you haven't been before read my guide to getting to Rivendell.
This guide includes quests in Western Angmar which require the Angmar quest pack (795TP from the LOTRO Store) or a VIP subscription. It is based around playing solo so whilst I include a few small-fellowship quests which can be soloed I skip over several fellowship quests which are impractical to do on your own (I will mention these when you could pick them up, if you happen to have a friend around then feel free to complete them)
1. Visit Elrond at The Last Homely House and accept [44]B6:FW: Turning to the North
2. Exit the study, and the Last Homely House and go to the Guest Rooms, speak to Aragorn to finish B6:FW and accept [44]B6C1:Of Golodir and Angmar
3. Travel to Esteldin in the North Downs. VIPs can swift travel directly from Rivendell. For free/premium players this is not a particularly easy route and I would suggest using Travel to Personal House to get to Bree and then taking stables from West Bree -> Trestlebridge -> Esteldin. Note that Wardens can use Muster in Esteldin and Hunters can use Guide to Esteldin.
4.Once in Esteldin speak to Daervunn who is standing by the Reflecting Pool (9.5,41.3) to turn in B6C1 and accept B6C2: Against his Lord

5. Return to Aughaire and speak to Corunir to turn in B6B6 and accept [46] B6C7: Beyond Rammas Deluon.
You have now completed nearly all of Book 6, and finished questing in Western Angmar. The only remaining quest for this book is to ride all the way east to Gabilshathur and speak to Braigiar. The Gabilshathur quest hub is best done around lvl 47 so I would recommend leaving this until later.
For now I suggest a trip to Southern Forochel
If you really want to finish the book now then exit Aughaire to the north and ride east, through the mountains, then the swamp and once past the line of statues at Rammas Deluon (which will no longer kill you) skirt the lake to the south then bear south through a cleft in the mountains (2.8,26.3) to find Gabilshathur and speak to Braigiar to turn in B6C7. Make sure you pick up the stable path from Horth which you are here.
Book 5: The Last Refuge (without Misty Mountains)
Before we Start
This guide covers the Book 5 Epic Quest only. You do not need the Misty Mountains Quest Pack to follow this guide. I would recommend being level 42 to do this Book, but it is achievable from level 40 onwards. If you want to quest in the Misty Mountains please use this guide instead
You cannot start Book 5 without completing Book 4, Chapter 9. If you haven't done this then please read my guide to Book 4.
Please ensure you have started your three Class Legendary Deeds (bought the books & spoken to the trainers to start them, see my Book 4 guide). The pages will drop at random from mobs in the Misty Mountains and you might as well get as many as you can while you're here.
Note that you can start Book 6 without doing 4 or 5 so you could choose to skip both of these Books but I would recommend that you do them for the story & for the (eventual) 20TP deed.

Book 5: The Last Refuge & The Central Misty Mountains (40-42)
Before we Start
This guide covers the Book 5 Epic Quest and the Central area Misty Mountains zone. It does not cover the High-Pass or Goblin-Town areas of the zone as they do not fit in with the Epic Quest and are suitable for higher-levelled characters. Please note that you will need the Misty Mountains Quest Pack (695TP from the LOTRO Store) or a VIP Subscription to obtain the non-epic quests in this area (i.e. you can only do the Book1,ChapterX quests without the quest pack). If you do not want to buy the quest pack for Misty Mountains please use this guide (which leaves out the extra quests and just explains the Epic Book) instead.
You cannot start Book 5 without completing Book 4, Chapter 9. If you haven't done this then please read my guide to Book 4.
Please ensure you have started your three Class Legendary Deeds (bought the books & spoken to the trainers to start them, see my Book 4 guide). The pages will drop at random from mobs in the Misty Mountains and you really don't want to miss out on the drops as it takes a lot of kills to get them all.
Note that you can start Book 6 without doing 4 or 5 so you could choose to skip both of these Books but I would recommend that you do them for the story & for the (eventual) 20TP deed.

Final Word
You should now have reached level 42. You will still have a few quests active in your log as we have only done part of the Misty Mountains. The next quest hub, High Pass, is best done around level 46 so we will come back and finish the quests off later.
- Hidden by Fur and Snow - still 8 bears to kill, we will finish this later when we return
- Warning: Evil Giants - to be finished later
- The Last Ingot - to be finished later
- Few Who Dare - this requires a trip to Celondim, go there the next time you drop by your personal house (take the swift-travel to get there) and turn in the quest and pick up [43] Towering Champions which we will complete later.
Moving onwards - lets head onto Book 6 and Western Angmar
