Moria: Waterworks (54-55)

The Waterworks

Note: If you have been following my previous guides you already have the quest [54] Aguti's Advice. If you do not have this quest then you need to get it from Simbi in the 21st Hall as several of the quests in Waterworks are unavailable without it.

The Rotting Cellar

From the Twenty First Hall, take a stable-route to Dolven-View.  Take a further stable-route to Deep Descent and then run south, through the Silvertine Lodes until you reach the entrance to Old Silvertine City. Instead of going through the doors into the city, follow the dirt track further south and into the Waterworks.

Follow the (long) passageways around in a meandering zig-zag. Most corridors end with only one way to turn but eventually you will reach a point when you can go left or right (14.2,112.1). At this point turn left and climb the stairs into The Rotting Cellar. (If you find yourself crossing a long bridge to a Door you can't enter you went the wrong way, turn around and go straight to the end of the corridor then turn right at the end)

At the Rotting Cellar:
  • Speak to Sylfa to accept [54] Some Kind of Safety
  • Speak to Wani to get the stable path
  • Speak to Aguti to turn in Aguti's Advice and accept [54] Studying the Local Wildlife
  • Speak to Gyrgir to accept [54] Dark and Shallow Water

Descend into the Water works down the staircase to the north of the camp (15.3,112.1) and follow the stairs down to the right. Continue downwards until you reach the water level and test the water (15.3,112.4)

Head out into the water and find the 4 Goblin Corpses. At each wait until you "see some leeches crawling in the water" and use the Newt-toxin. Corpses are found washed up just by the edge of the water at:
  • 15.2,112.6
  • 15.4,112.8
  • 15.4,113.4
  • 15.2,113.5

Kill creatures (anything that moves is fair game) until you have 8 Creature Samples then return to the camp:
  • Speak to Aguti to turn in Studying the Local Wildlife and accept [54] The Local Wildlife is Deadly
  • Speak to Gyrgur and turn in Dark & Shallow Water
  • Speak to Sylfa to turn in Some Kind of Safety
  • Speak to Thrand to accept [54] Clearly Problematic

Leave the camp and descend back down to the water level. Head west killing Deep Toads on sight (ignore the map, kills anywhere in the zone count towards the quest)

When you reach the western bank start killing Glass Spiders on sight.  Make your way upwards through the ruins on the north side (stairs start 15.2,114.8) until you find the Brooch of Lorien (15.0,114.3). Examine it to accept [54] Caught in Clear Webs. Continue killing Spiders until you collect 10 glass-spider legs.

Exit the area and return east to the Rotting Cellar. Ensure you have killed 8 Deep Toads before you return to camp then:
  • Speak to Aguti and turn in The Local Wildlife is Deadly
  • Speak to Thrand and turn in Clearly Problematic and accept [54] Spider-Leg Prisms
Go back down to the water level and head south-west until you reach Gabil-Munz.  Repair the lamp at the foot of the eastern stair (16.6,13.3)  then climb up the stairs to the higher bridge levels and repair the 6 Shattered Crystal lamps along the parapets. Descend to the north and fix the final lamp at the foot of the stair (15.8,114.1).

Return to the camp and speak to Thrand to turn in Spider-leg Prisms. Speak to Sylfa to accept [54] Lying in Wait.

Hulwul-Nefekh

Descend to the water level again and head south until you reach the Chamber of Dark Waters (with many red fungi) and kill 10 Globsnaga Orcs.

Exit the Chamber to the west and climb up onto the raised platform at Gabil Munz (where you lit the broken lights) to find the door to Hulwul-nefekh (16.8,114.1)
  • Speak to Ansurr to turn in Lying in Wait and accept [54] Fighting the Fungus, [54] Missing Arrows and [54] Out of hte Darkness
  • Speak to Thrand to accept [54] Darkened by Mildew and [54] Mushroom Picking
  • Speak to Gyrgir and accept [54] Drawn to the Water
Exit the camp and descend the stairs to the south then run east until you return to the Chamber of Dark Waters:
  • Hug the western wall and head to the northern end of the area to find Urbhrum (16.6,112.2) and kill him
  • Run to the eastern wall then follow it south to a flooded tunnel (16.9,112.0) and enter the room to the east
    • Examine the Statue Torso Piece (16.9,112.0) to accept [54] Torso of Helgi Goblinbane
    • Head east a little further to find Kraibag (16.8,11.9). Use the Flask of Oil on him then kill him.
  • Exit the small room and continue south ensuring you have collected 6 Fungus spores (drop from Globsnaga orcs)

Take the passage east (17.3,112.0) then swim south-east across the lake and climb out the slope on the far side (17.8,111.7) to find the Fungus Covered Mirror (17.7,111.5). Defend it from the Globsnaga then clean it.

Exit the area to the north-west and continue north until you pass the large central tower. Destroy 10 Fungus Mushrooms (found on the edges of the pools here).

Return south to the camp of Hulwul-nefekh (through door on south-west side of central raised are) and:
  • Speak to Ansurr to turn in Missing Arrows and Out of the Darkness and accept [54] Churning Froth
  • Speak to Thrand to turn in Darkened by Mildew and Mushroom Picking
  • Speak to Gyrgir to turn in Drawn to the Water and accept [54] Toad Slime
  • Speak to Ansurr again to turn in Fighting the Fungus
Exit the camp. From now on kill Deep-Toads on sight. Descend the stairs to the west then bear south-west until you discover Narag-kheleb.

The Great Wheel

Continue west to find the Great Wheel (17.2,115.6) and kill 6 creatures in the nearby area.

Return to camp  ensuring you have collected 8 toad-slime from Deep-Toads. At the camp:
  • Speak to Ansurr to turn in Churning Froth and accept [54] Rusted Works
  • Speak to Gyrgir to turn in Toad-Slime and accept [54] Fighting Slime with Slime
Exit the camp and descend the stairs to the west.  

Continue north -west to a pool filled with greenish-yellow crystals (16.3,115.1) and kill Glow Woms until you collect 6 acid-glands.

Head south-west, into the Drowned Deep, and find the pile of Lizard-Food (16.7,116.9). Use it to summon and kill Stonecrest.

Return to the camp and:
  • Spek to Ansurr to turn in Rusted Works and accept [54] Fungus and Acid and [54] Foreman of the Great Wheel
  • Speak to Gyrgir and turn in Fighting Slime with Slime
Exit the camp, descend the western stairs and make your way back to the Great Wheel. Go past the Wheel and continue south-west until you reach a door (17.6,116.2).

Enter the door and head due-east down the tunnel. Follow the tunnel until it opens out into a large room with falling water. Run through the water and jump into the pool and swim across to the eastern side where you will find Indrith. Speak to him to turn in Foreman of the Great Wheel and accept [54] Gumming Up the Works.

Kill 8 Flood-Lizards and 8 Deep-Toads and return to Indrith to turn in Gumming Up the Works. Accept [54] A Second Go of It.  "/flex" your muscles at Indrith and speak to him again to continue the quest.  Wait whilst he tries to turn the wheel then speak to him again to finish the quest. Accept [54] A New Gear.

Route to the New Gear
Head back towards the entrance you came it and follow the map above to find the gear.

Return to Indrith and turn in A New Gear. Accept [54] Two Problems, One Tool

Cross back over the pool and take the passageway to the north.  Continue down the passageway until you reach another Door. Exit to find yourself atop the great wheel:

  • Unjam 6 Fungus Covered Paddles
  • Remove 6 Slime from the main paddle.
  • Kill 8 Globsnaga orcs

Return to Indrith and turn in Two Problems, One Tool. Accept [54] Off to the Channel.

Exit down the tunnel to the west and return to the camp at Hulwul-nefekh. Speak to Ansurr to turn in Fungus and Acid.


The Vile Maw

Exit the camp, descend the western stairs and head south-west to the camp of Harazgund outside the entrance to the Vile Maw ( the entrances to the camp are marked by orange crystals):

  • Speak to Kaldi to turn in Off to the Channel and accept [54] Readings from the Basin
  • Speak to Asur to get the Stable Route
Run north to the edge of the Drowned Deep water and draw a sample (stand just inside the pool). Return to Kaldi to turn in Readings from the Basin and accept [54] Reporting the Findings.

Exit the camp to the east then head south to find the door to the Chamber of Wheels. Run due east to find Foreman Indrith and speak to him to continue Reporting the Findings. 

Retrace your steps to the camp at Vile Maw and speak to Kaldi to turn in the quest. Accept [54] An Uneven Flow.

Take a ride to The Rotting Cellar and speak to Aguti to turn in Torso of Heldi Goblinbane.  Take another Stable to Deep Descent, then Dolven-View, then Twenty First Hall.

Speak to Simbi, due south of the stable master, to turn in An Uneven Flow
Speak to Geirfast, due west of Simbi, to turn in Caught in Clear Webs

The Waterworks is now complete. Next up is Zelem-Melek (coming soon!)

Moria: Durin's Way (53-54)


The Chamber of the Crossroads


The Bridge to Dwarf Lords Gate

From Dolven-View, exit to the north, down the stairs to Gazatmur.  Take the stairs down behind Wigfast then continue straight on and up another flight of stairs. Cross the bridge and pass through Dwarf Lords Gate.

Once in the hall on the other side, examine the Ornate Chest Piece to accept [53] Unexpected Treasure.

When you see a Iron Garrison Guide take the passageway north  to enter Durin's Way. After descending the stairs turn right (east) and continue descending to find Manarbul. Turn north and head through a small guarded passage to reach Chamber of the Crossroads.

Speak to Uxi at the entrance way to accept [53] Shattered. Run a few paces south to the statue in the room and you will get a message that "The statue is missing most of the body from the waist up". Return to Uxi and turn in the quest.

The Chamber of the Crossroads

Continue down the passageway into The Chamber of the Crossroads camp:
  • Speak to Styrlak to get the stable path
  • Speak to Rambi to turn in Unexpected Treasure and accept [53] Heralds of Corruption
  • Speak to Sigdan (up the stairs) and continue Heralds of Corruption
  • Return to Rambi and turn in Heralds of Corruption
  • Speak to Lukmund to turn in To the Chamber of Crossroads and accept [53] Stronghold of the Goblins and [53] Likmunds' Companions
  • Speak to Rink and accept [53] A Bitter Enemy
  • Speak to Fostolf and accept [53] Drums of War
  • Speak to Gansi and accept [53] Lost Supplies

The Hall of the High Stair

Exit the camp to the south into the room with the statue. Take the south-eastern exit and, when the room opens out, take the northern passageway to the Hall of the High Stair:
  • Destroy 6 Drums
  • Kill 10 Goblins
Climb the High Stair and, at the top, turn right (north). Continue up the tunnel and collect the 2 supply-crates

At the top of the passageway turn let (east) and find Krum (3.8,112.5). Speak to him to continue Stronghold of the Goblins and escort him into Ninknakh Faltor. After a little while he will decide he has explored as far as is safe and the quest will progress. At this point you should retrace your steps out of the camp.

Head east along the tunnel to find the third supply crate (3.6,112.0) then take the tunnel to the north beside it into Mudmulzarak where you will find the remaining 3 supply crates.

Exit to the south and take the first tunnel to the west, then take the tunnel to the south to return to the Crossroads camp:
  • Speak to Rink to turn in A Bitter Enemy
  • Speak to Fostolf and turn in Drums of War
  • Speak to Gansi and turn in Lost Supplies
  • Speak to Likmund and turn in Stronghold of the Golbins and Likmunds Companions. Accept [53] Message to Zikakzigil
  • Speak to Thalfi to accept [53] Mapping the Winding Way
  • Speak to Rambi to accept [53] Scraps of Shadow
Progressing the Epic:

At the Chamber of Crossroads, enter the small room at the top of the stairs and speak to Brogur to continue B2C6

Exit the room and speak to Bosi to turn in the quest and accept [54] B2C7: The Empty Passage. Speak to him again to travel to the instance (which contains lvl 52 mobs so is easily achievable)
  • Follow Bosi until he stops killing Gredbyg
  • Perform the requested emote to reveal the door
  • Examine the 3 forges
  • Return to Bosi and protect him from harm to complete the instance
Exit the instance and speak to Bosi to turn in B2C7 and accept [54]B2C8: The Twenty-First Hall.

Speak to Likmund to accept [51] The Winding Way

To the Twenty-First Hall

The Twenty-first Hall
Exit the camp to the room with the statue and take the south-east exit. Head a few paces into the north-eastern tunnel until you find "a good section to draw on the parchment" then use the parchment for Mapping the Winding Way (you need to dismount to do this). Continue along the winding way until you get the message again and repeat. Continue further and repeat again at the Iron Garrison camp.

OPTIONAL: This camp is one of 3 which offers repeatable quests for rep with the Iron Garrison and crafting materials.  The dungeons here are geared towards scholars and contain a heap of resource nodes (15+). Any player can complete the quests for the rep and the tokens rewarded at the end can be traded for crafting materials for any profession. If you are interested then speak to Darri and accept [53] Mekeb-Faham: Book End, MF: The Comfort of Words and MF: When Scholars Attack. Note that Orvars offers similar quests for a level 57 dungeon, Mekeb-Farak however it's not efficient to run this at level 53. The nodes in both dungeons reset twice a week.

 Enter the dungeon through the door to Darri's left:
  • Make your way up through the levels of the library (it's basically one big ramp with rooms off to the side on each level)
  • Collect 8 Books of Dwarf Prose
  • Kill 20 enemies (don't go looking for them , just killing the ones that aggro should do it!)
  • Kill the Cave-Claw Pack Leader (lvl 53 signature) - he patrols around the rooms at the top of the dungeon
  • When you've done all of the above Leave the instance and turn in the quests to Darri. 
END OF OPTIONAL SECTION

Continue along the Winding Way until you reach the fourth "good section to draw" and use the parchment. Continue a little further and you will reach the entrance to the Twenty-First Hall, enter the hall and run east, past a large banner then use the parchment for a final time to complete the map

Twenty-First Hall is the major city in Moria:
  • Head to the south-side of the hall to find the Chamber of Leadership, enter and speak to Brogur to turn in B2C8 and accept [56]B3C1: An Overzealous Explorer (note: The Epic jumps levels a bit here so we'll be coming back to it later)
  • Take the opportunity to visit your class trainer etc
  • Speak to Darri (5.9,105.3) and accept [55] A Gleam in the Gloom
  • Examine the Riddle (5.9,105.5) and accept [55] Riddles in the Tomb.
Run north through the North Gate and then turn east, through the Great Doors into the Chamber of Mazarbul. Examine the appropriate plaque to complete Riddles in the Tomb
Ride to each of the 4 corners of Twenty First Hall and examine the 4 mirrrors. Return to Darri to turn in A Gleam in the Gloom and accept [55] Faint but Fierce

Ride back to the third mirror (south-west) and swivel it. Return to Darri and turn in Faint but Fierce

Speak to the stable master, Taf (5.7,105.3) to get the stable route and buy a ride back to Crossroads (swift and normal travel available). Speak to Thalfi to turn in Mapping the Way

Door to the Clouds

Exit the Crossroads into the statue room and take the western exit  then turn right and climb the stairs to the north. At the top turn left (east) and continue straight on until you reach Durin's Crossing. Take the passageway to the left (north) north to find the Door to the Clouds
  • Speak to Sibbi to get the stable route
  • Speak to Kalman to continue Scraps of Shadow and accept [53] After the Fire and [53] Emissaries of the White Hand
  • Speak to Listein and turn in Message to Zirakzigil and accept [53] Send them Back Home and [53] Untold Legends
  • Speak to Siggir and accept [53] Plenty to Go Around
Exit to the east to find Uflump-Mur, continue east through the camp to find the Ancient shield on the rise behind the pool (3.2,110.2). 

Exit to the west and return to Listein and turn in Untold Legends.

Exit to the south  and return to Durin's Crossing and kill the Emmisary (lvl 52 signature).

Head west down the passageway and kill any Morroval-Stalkers you see (there are spawns at 3.6,11.4 and 3.7,11.5) then take the first passage to the south to enter Gloku-ru
  • Kill 9 Goblins
  • Kill Morroval-Stalkers (4.2,111.4) (4.2,111.0)
  • Kill the White Hand Emissary (in a small room to the south, 4.2,111.1)
Exit to the north then turn left (west) and head down the passageway until you reach a cross roads. Turn right (north) into Mudmulzarak. In the north-east corner you will find Captain Gomig with 2 guards. Note that you can pull the 2 guards separately but, if you do so, make sure you drag them away from the Captain as he has an aura that will keep healing them up to full health! If you're happy fighting all 3 at once just make sure you kill the Captain first.

Exit to the south then go right (west) at the first cross roads into Ninknakj Faltor. Turn immediately left (south) and follow the upwards bridge to find the final Emissary. Kill it 

Exit the area and follow the tunnels east to Durin's Crossing then head south down the tunnel and take the first exit to the east. Continue east to find the entrance to the Bat Cave (4.3,110.2). Enter the cave:
  • Kill 12 Bats
  • Kill 3 Morroval Bat Handlers (lvl 53 signature)
Exit the cave through the eastern tunnel and return to the camp (go west as far as you can, then north):
  • Speak to Siggir to turn in Plenty to Go Around
  • Speak to Listein to turn in Send Them Back Home
  • Speak to Kalman to turn in Emissaries of the White Hand and Scraps of Shadow. Accept [53] Unseen
Tharak Bazan

Ride south to Durin's Crossing then east into Tharak Bazan. Continue east to the statue then turn north-east to find the camp 
  • Speak to the un-named Stable Master to get the stable path (swift travel only)
  • Speak to Bukk to continue Unseen and accept [53] The Terror that Was Azog and [53] A Rare Root
  • Speak to Arnod to turn in Unseen
  • Speak to Gerwith to turn in After the Fire and aaccept [53] Blackest Night
Exit the camp to the south and make your way around the gardens in a rough loop
  • Collect 10 Healthy Mud-Root (found near water)
  • Collect 8 Glowing Crystals
  • Examine the Moria Mirror - found up high, just to the west of the large statue(3.6,109.0) to accept [53] A Light in the Garden
Return to the camp:
  • Speak to Bukk to turn in A Rare Root
  • Speak to Gerwith to turn in Blackest Night
Exit the camp to the east and enter Sunul-dum. Climb the long rocky slope to the north-east and continue east into The Mustering Hall. Take the stairs up to the south then east and find Arnfinn, in the north-east corner being intimidated by 4 Moria Thugs. Kill the thugs then speak to Arfinn to continue the Terror that was Azog.

Return west to the camp and speak to Bukk to turn in The Terror that was Azog and accept [53] Records of Old Times. Speak to Arnod to continue the quest.

Exit the camp to the east into Slunul-dum. Continue due east into a small room (not up the slope!) to find the first Ancient Records.

Exit the room and climb up the slope. In the lower corner of the slope examine the Statue Arm (3.0,107.8) to accept Helgi Goblinbane's Arm (this is a remote-bestowal for some reason, look for the banner like you get for festival quests).

Continue east into the Mustering Hall and climb the small flight of stairs to the right to find the second Ancient Records

Backtrack into the main room of Slunul-dum and take the southern exit. Take a dog-leg east then south again into The Glass-Hall and follow the slope down to the right (east). Head a little way east then take the first tunnel south to find the third Ancient Record (4.2,108.2).

Exit to the north then go immediately east. Follow the passage south and take the exit to the east into Zabad-dum.  Climb the wide stairs to the north and find the final Ancient Record (3.8,107.3) on a raised platform.

Exit the room to the north, into Salab Nurjunul and take the first turning west to return to Tharakh Bazan.

Speak to Arnod to turn in Helgi Goblinbane's Arm and Records of the Dark Times. Accept [53] Lest We Forget

Exit the camp to the west and descend into the gardens.  Take the first turning to the north and stand before the northern statue to tell the "/story" of the fallen

Take the bridge to the south then the slope to the east to stand before the central statue (on the eastern side of it) and tell the "/story" of the fallen

Descend the slope to the south and stand before the fountain to recount the "/story" a final time.

Return to the camp and speak to Arnod to turn in Lest We Forget and accept [53] Preserving Ancient Tales.  Speak to Bukk to continue the quest.

Jazargund (The Stone Hall)

Ride south from the camp and take the eastern exit to leave the basin. Ride east down the wide corridor, through Salab Nurjunul and into the Stone Hall
  • Speak to Rangi the stable-master to get the stable route.
Ride south, past the main camp and across the bridge, as you enter 21st hall turn immediately left and follow the passageway east then south. Look for a turning on your left (east) and find The Chamber of Mazarbul. Speak to Warr to turn in The Winding Way

Return to Jazargund and :
  • Speak to Borgar to turn in Preserving Ancient Tales and accept [53] Badgers as Shepherds and [53] Hope from the East
  • Speak to Oxi to turn in A Light in the Garden
  • Speak to Ion to accept [53] Little Revolution
  • Speak to Hamall to accept [53] Crashing Down and [53] Remembering the Old Songs
Exit the Stone Hall over the eastern bridge into Jundul-dum. Climb the slopes to the north and light the 2 Cauldrons then take the eastern-most passage to the north and enter the room to the east to find a White Hand Taskmaster.

Head west then immediately north into the next room to find a Damaged Column, A piece of Sheet Music and another White Hand Taskmaster. (3.0,104.3)

Exit to the west to find another Sheet Music and White Hand Taskmaster on a raised platform in the north of the room. (2.9,104.4)

Continue west to find another Decaying column (2.9,104.6), and a White Hand Taskmaster and Sheet Music (3.0,104.7)

Exit to the south and cross over to light the 3 Cauldrons on the south side of the main room. Head down the eastern-most tunnel to the south then bear east into a small room where you will find a Decaying Column.  

Exit the room, go south a few paces and into the next room to the east to find Zahof (lvl 53 elite, hits like a wet dishcloth). Place a Mordor banner on his throne when he's dead.

Exit the room and head west then climb the stairs to the north to find another Taskmaster and Sheet Music (4.2,104.4)

Go down the stairs and further west to a small camp by a fire where you will find the next Decaying Column (4.3,104.6) and Sheet Music.

Continue west and locate the final 2 Decaying Columns to either side of the path (4.2,104.9) and stairs leading to the final Taskmaster & Sheet Music (4.2,105).

Exit the orc camp to the north then ride west to return to Jazargund:
  • Speak to Borgar to turn in Hope from the East and Badgers as Shepherds
  • Speak to Ion to turn in Little Revolution
  • Speak to Hamall to turn in Crashing Down and Remembering the Old Songs
  • Speak to Oxi to accept [53] Into the Fanged Pit and collect the Sack of Supplies next to him

The Fanged Pit


Camp at the Fanged Pit

Exit The Stone Halls across the eastern bridge and continue east to find Folkarth in The Fanged Pit:

  • Speak to the Stable-Master to get the stable route (swift-travel only)
  • Speak to Folkath to turn in Into the Fanged Pit and accept [53] Visage of Terror
  • Speak to Guri to accept [53] Birds of Prey
  • Speak to Hadi to accept [53] Workshop of the Winged
  • Speak to Besi to accept [53] Fungus Takes Flight
Exit the camp down the northern path and follow it around to the east. Continue due east to find Tith-mandhul:

  • Open 6 cages and free the Globsnaga then kill them
  • Kill 6 Morroval Slayers
Exit the area to the south and find Erlar (3.7,101.8). Speak to him to continue Workshop of the Winged then follow him and protect him from the Morroval. When all are defeated he will run off to secure the escape route. Let him go and shortly afterwards you will be able to destroy the nearby seige engine.

Exit the camp up the slope to the south and follow the path east and up into the hills. Eventually the path will curve north and you will reach Skoiruzg:

  • Destroy 6 nests
  • Kill 6 Morroval Slingers
Exit the camp to the south and follow the path around to the west and all the way back to the Fanged Pit Camp:

  • Speak to Guri to turn in Birds of Prey
  • Speak to Hadi to turn in Workshop of the Winged
  • Speak to Besi to turn in Fungus Takes Flight
  • Speak to Folkath to turn in Visage of Terror and accept [53] Vanity
Exit the camp to the south and follow the path, past one tall tower,  until you reach the second tower (Dar-rukh)(4.7,100.3).  Leave the path and climb to the top of the tower then strike the mirror to summon Bogrian. Fight her until she retreats then return to the path and head west until you return to the camp.

Speak to Folkath to turn in Vanity and accept [54] Bogrian's Curiosity. Speak to Hadi to continue the quest.

Exit the camp to the north and follow the path around until you find a group of Scouts. Kill 2 of them and then return to the camp.

Speak to Folkath to turn in Bogrian's Curiosity and accept [54] Death to the Maidens.

Use the "Goat to Zikragil" to travel instantly to Zikragil and head north into the Broken Cleft.

Bear north-west, staying high in the hills, until you find the The Searchers Eyrie (14.3,109.8):
  • Kill 5 Bograin's Personal Guards 
  • Kill 5 Bograin's Defilers
Use Bograin's Banner (14.4,109.8) to summon her and defeat her.

Exit is down through the big rock pile on the left

Exit to the south, up into the mountains and out through the Broken Cleft (note, the exit isn't very obvious but if you run to the flag for Broken Cleft on the map you will find it there - see picture)

Take the 'Goat to the Fanged Pit' then ride west to Jazargund. Speak to Oxi to turn in Death to the Maidens. Accept [53] Dark Victory

Take a stable-route to the Twenty First Hall and speak to Simbi (5.9,105.4) to turn in Dark Victory. Accept [54] Aguti's Advice

Durin's Way is now completed, onto The Waterworks

Prologue: Men (5-15)

Archet

After completing the Introduction (after the instance with the burning of the village) you will return to Archet, however will now be in the non-instanced "real" world. You should be level 5 or 6.

You will have "Prologue: Burying the Dead" which you received from Jon Brackenbridge during the Introduction.

Visit the Mailbox and read "A Letter of Commendation". Detatch the item from the mail then open the Gift Pack in your inventory. Read the Letter of Commendation to accept [5] A Message of Thanks.

Speak to Constable Thistlewool to turn in A Message of Thanks and accept [6] Disease Among The Boars

Speak to him again and choose "Barter Items" and exchange your Tokens of Salutation for a Novice's Mark and one of each potion. Equip the Novice's Mark to gain 10% Run Speed.

Speak to Atli Spider Bane, by the fountain, to accept [5] A Threat from Spiders then speak to Carl Sprigly to continue the quest

Visit your class trainer (by the south exit) and train any new skills

Exit Archet to the south. From now on kill Diseased Bristlehides on sight (6 total).

Follow the path south until you find the body of Dirk Mudbrick. Bury Him

Continue south until you reach the path junction with a guard post, take the eastern fork and find Wil Wheatley's body behind some bushes. Bury Him

Contniue down the path to the Sprigley Farm. Examine the Dead Farmhand to retrieve Sprigley's Bow and collect Sprigley's Strongbox and Seed Bag.

Enter Sprigley's Cellar and take the tunnels north, east, north (run straight past the spiders and let them chase you, they won't do enough damage to matter as long as you don't stop) to take a shortcut to the Old Road then run east to the Hunting Lodge to bury Nate Whisperwood.

Return to Archet making sure you kill any remaining Boars on the way:
  • Speak to Constable Thistlewool to turn in Disease Among the Boars
  • Speak to Jon Brackenbrook to turn in P: Burying the Dead and accept P: An Urgent Summons
  • Speak to Builder Earur to accept [8] Builder Earur
  • Speak to Cal Sprigley to turn in A Threat From Spiders and accept [7] Finding Reason then speak to Atli Spider-Bane to continue the quest
Run back to the Old East Path (near the Hunting Lodge), jump over the low ruined wall in front of the entrance and find Bali to continue the quest.  Enter the cave behind Bali and search 5 cocoons to retrieve the missing journal pages then exit the dungeon to the north. 

Return to Archet and speak to Atli to turn in the quest and accept [9] Spider-Bane (note that this is very easy to do at lvl 7!)

Return to the cave on the Old East Path and head down the western tunnel to find Iornaith (you can run past all the spiders until you reach her room as they will de-aggro when you enter). Kill her.

Exit the dungeon to the south to emerge on the Sprigley Farm, head west and retrieve the Toolbox (by a tree near the path from the gate, protected by a Mad Bristlehide.

Return to Archet:
  • Speak to Atli to turn in Spider-Bane.
  • Speak to Earur to turn in Builder Earur and accept [7] Message to Taylor Green
Exit Archet to the south, ride all the way south and through the wooden fence and into Coombe

Aiding Combe

Enter the Comb & Wattle Inn and speak to Lizbeth Honeymeade to continue P: An Urgent Summons. Go down the hallway on the south side of the Inn and follow it around to find Tordan in his room. Speak to him to turn in P: An Urgent Summons and accept P:Finding Amdir

Exit the Inn and head around to the right, up some stairs, to find Constable Underhill. Speak to him to continue P:Finding Amdir

Speak to (from west to east):

  • Gail Catchpole to accept [9] Mourning the Dead
  • Maida Woodwright to accept [9] Reconnecting Ties
  • Constable Sageford to accept [9] Blackwold Valuables and [9] Unpaid Debts
  • Ted Pickthorn to accept [7] Beneath the Hanging Tree
Continue east along the path to find Constable Wren. Speak to him to continue Mourning the Dead and Reconnecting Ties.

Head up the hill behind Constable Wren to find a field of Stumps (29.9,47.9) and dig 3 stumps


Return to Coombe and speak to Ted Pickthorn to turn in Beneath the Hanging Tree and accept [8] The Logger's Ledger

Head east from Combe until you reach the Combe Lumber Camp and:
  • Speak to Mason Thorne to continue the Logger's Ledger
  • Speak to Taylor Green to turn in Message to Taylor Green and accept [8] Den of Wolves
  • Speak to Posco Burrows to accept [9] Posco's Uncle
  • Speak to Old Bauman to accept [9] Old Bauman's Farm
Continue east along the path and into Chetwood North, find Filbert Burrows standing by a tree and continue Posco's Uncle.

Continue east along the path to find the Blackwold Lockbox (27.9,44.7) and loot it

Continue along the path to the east until you find Old Bauman's Farm and kill the Blackwold Supervisor to find Rurik's Receipt then kill Blackwolds in the area until you collect:
  • 5 Heirlooms
  • Old Sally's Chain
Return to the path and find 2 Blackwolds protecting a Brigand Agent's Letter (28.2,43.8) - loot it for Finding Amdir

Continue along the path to find Cole Sickleleaf at the top of a ruin to the right of the path (27.0,42.8), kill him to collect Filbert's Handkerchief

Run west to find Covell Woodwright standing outside the Blackwold Headquarters and speak to him to continue Reconnecting Ties

Return west down the path ensuring you have killed 8 wolves and killing bandits until you have the following drops:
  • Favourite Fishing-Pole for Mourning the Dead
  • Mason Thorne's Ledger for The Logger's Ledger
Speak to Filbert Burrows and continue Posco's Uncle 

Return to the Combe Lumber Camp and:
  • Speak to Old Bauman to turn in Old Bauman's Farm
  • Speak to Taylor Green to turn  Den of Wolves
  • Speak to Posco Burrows to accept turn in Posco's Uncle
  • Speak to Mason Thorne to finish The Logger's Ledger and accept [8] Pickthorn's Treasure
Exit the camp and run up the hill to the south-west to the Stump Field.  Dig at the Stump to collect Pickthorn's Treasure 

Run north-west towards Coombe and speak to Constable Wren to continue Reconnecting Ties

Head in to Coombe and:
  • Speak to Ted Pickthorn at his house to turn in Pickthorn's Treasure
  • Speak to Constable Sageford, standing on the road, to turn in Unpaid Debts and Blackwold Valuables and accept [10] More Treasure and [8] Rurick Fennel, Locksmith
  • Speak to COnstable Underhill, by the Training Hall, to turn in Prologue: Finding Amdir and accept [10] Prologue: Cutleaf's Good Intentions

  • Return to Constable Sageford and turn in Rurik Fennel, Locksmith and accept [10] Blackwold Thieves
  • Speak to Burl Beeman, north of the Inn by the merchants, to accept [12] Friendship's Renewed
Exit Coombe to the north-west, along the path by Burl Beeman, and enter Ellie Cutleaf's House (28.1,50.6). Speak to Ellie Cutleaf and continue Prologue: Cutleaf's Good Intentions

Head back to the forest of Chetwood North and run east until you find Skunkwood's Farm - look in the pens on the right to find Skunkwood's Den-mother and kill her.

Exit the farm to the north and continue until you reach the Blackwold Headquarters. Enter the ruins and find the Strongbox (26.6,44.0) and then head west, across a bridge, until you find Sergeant Applewood in the north-west corner of the ruins (26.4,44.9), kill him to received Rurik's Key.

Exit the ruins and return to Combe, speak to Constable Sageford to turn in More Treasure and Blackwold Thieves

Continue through Combe and return to Ellie Cutleaf's Cottage, speak to Ellie and turn in Prologue Cutleaf's Good Intentions and accept [10] Prologue: Greater Responsibility

Run west through the Lumber Camp and into Chetwood North, as you pass the first ruined wall turn left and take the western path to find Blackwort (around 28.3,46.2). Collect four.

Run back into Combe and take the road south towards Bree until you see a sign on your right for Leecher Cartwell, take the path (doubling back on yourself) and enter Leecher's House. Speak to Leecher Cartwell and continue Prologue: Greater Responsibility

Exit the house, return to the path and run north towards Bree. As you pass through the wooden palisade marking the edge of Combe you will see a small house on your left, go behind the house to find Beehives and use one to collect some Honey.

Continue on south to Staddle and run through the town and out to the east until you reach a forested area where you can collect 6 red-berries.

Run west through Staddle then north to Combe and visit Leecher Cartwell in his house on the hill just before you enter the town. Speak to him to continue Prologue:Greater Responsibility.

Exit Cartwell's and run through Bree and out to Ellie's house. Speak to Ellie to finish Proglogue: Greater Responsibility. Accept [11] Prologue: A Critical Strike.

Run back to Chetwood North and make your way to the Blackwold HQ in the north-eastern corner of the forest. Enter the ruins and, in the central area, interact with 6 slaughtered sheep to poison them.

In the north-east corner of the ruins find and kill Jagger Jack

Return to Combe, ride through the town and out to Ellie's House, speak to Ellie and turn in Prologue: A Critical Strike. Accept [12] Prologue: The Hideout

Run into Combe and speak to Toradan, who is upstairs in the Comb & Wattle Inn, to continue Prologue: The Hideout.

Exit the Inn and leave Combe by the western road, at the constables hut take the right hand fork towards the lake then ride through the stump field and jump off the cliff by the waterfall to find the Door to the hideout at the foot of the waterfall.

Enter the hideout and complete the instance then return to Combe and speak to Constable Underhill, outside the training hall, to turn in Prologue: The Hideout. Accept [14] Prologue: Chasing Amdir

Into Bree

Exit Combe to the south and ride toward Staddle, on the way find Lolo Wendingway standing by his wagon, speak to him to turn in Friendship's Renewed and accept [12] The Errant Coinpurse. CLimb the hill behind Lolo and kill Bears until you receive Lolo's Backpack. Return to Lolo and turn in The Errant Coinpurse (There is a 15 minute timer on this quests but it should only take a couple of minutes unless you are very unlucky with the drops).


Speak to Lolo again and accept [8] Into Bree and [8] On to Staddle.

Head into the nearby Bree Gatehouse and speak to Bruner Stoutthrush to turn in Family Treasures and accept [9] Pipe-Weed Delivery. Continue into Bree and speak to Second-watcher Heathstraw, who is standing outside a house to the south of the fountain, to turn in Into Bree. Accept [14] Meeting the Mayor.

Run south to the Bree-town Hall at the southern end of the block and speak to Mayor Graeme Tenderlarch to turn in Meeting the Mayor. Accept [14] A Tour of Bree.
  • Exit the town hall and run north to find the crafting hall on your right just before the fountain and speak to Bonny Thatcher 
  • Exit the craft hall and speak to Second-watcher Heathstraw (in front of you)
  • Run north and enter the Prancing Pony to speak to Barliman Butterman, the inn keeper
  • Exit the Inn and run east to speak to Lily Sandheaver, outside her house just to the north of the path before the Stable Master
  • Continue down the eastern path to speak to Harry Goatleaf, the Stable Master
  • Turn around and run back west to find Watchman Cardoon a few paces back down the path
  • Run down the southern path next to the Watcher to find teh Vault (guarded by 2 Watchers) on your right, speak to either Vault Keeper
  • Exit the Vault and cross the street to find Whitemane's Taxidermy, speak to Clar Whitethorn
  • Exit the Taxidermist then run south and take the first path on the left to find the door to teh Scholar's Stair Archives just under the first bridge and on your right, speak to Newbold Leafcutter
  • Exit the archives, turn left to retrace your steps then head south through the Stone Quarter and take the path on the right to find Mat Heathertoes (by a half-starved pony) 
  • Retrace your steps to the stone quarter and examine take the eastern path. Stop to read the Posted Bill and accept [14] Turtles in the Soup then double back to find Mandrake's shop a few paces away. Speak to Mandrake to continue Turtles in the Soupt
  • Exit Mandrakes and continue down the eastern road until you reach the Bree Jail (apparent from the Prisoners oustide it), speak to Lily Appledore
  • Run futher south, through the Woodsmans Gate, to find the Bree-town Auction Hall, speak to an Auctioneer
  • Exit the auction hall obtain the nearby Stable Route then take the western road to find Tad Leafcutter outside the Bree-town Hunting Lodge
  • Return to the Mayor at the Town Hall and complete A Tour of Bree. Accept [14] The Trouble with the Southerners

Exit Bree to the east and ride to Staddle

Run north and ensuring you have killed 10 boars and 6 bears and return to Asphodel Froghorn to continue Quality and Character

Run east and speak to Eldo to complete Quality and Character. Accept [10] Farmer's Market

Return to Asphodel Froghorn and continue Farmer's Market

Run north and return to Lily Underhill and continue Lily's Secret

Run west and return to Gammy Boggs and turn in Lily's Secret. Accept [12] Falco's Garden
Run south-west to Falco and continue Falco's Garden

Continue west into Staddle and
  • Speak to Himloc Grouse to turn in Stolen Pipe-weed and continue Farmer's Market and accept [14] The Vigil

The Midgewater Marshes

Ride east from Eldo's house until you reach the Midgewater Marshes, from now on kill neeker-breekers on sight.

Run east until you reach the Sunken Stones (31.9,45.6) and kill 3 goblins here.

Continue east until you reach the Goblinhole ruins (33.0,43.2), enter the main camp from the eastern end and kill Gurzrum (33.1,43.1) then leave the camp and run west to find Gurzstaz by two small tents (32.8,43.0)

Climb the hill behind Gurzstaz camp to find a small friendly camp (32.5,43.5):
  • Speak to Bill Mossfoot and turn in Scouting the Marshes and Two Chiefains. Accept [14] The Threat of Fire
  • Speak to Roderick Neeker-Friend and accept [14] Neeker-Friend
Roam the swamps and kill 8 Sappers, kill Sickle-Flies until you have 4 wings, and kill Neeker-Breekers until you have 3 fennel-seeds (check you've killed 8 in total but it will probably take a lot more!)

Return to the camp and:
  • Speak to Edda Twiggins to turn in Neekers in the Marshes, accept [14] Spiders in the Midegewater
  • Speak to Roderick to turn in Neeker-Friend, use the key you receive to open the Chest next to Roderick for a nice reward
  • Speak to Bill to turn in The Threat of Fire
Run north-east from the camp to The Mustering Cave (30.7,42.8) and enter it, speak to Mudol to finish Prologue: Chasing Amdir and accept [14] Prologue: To A Ranger's Aid

Run west until you reach the ruins of the Marshwater Fort. Interact with the Ancient Altar (31.2,44.9) to discover the deed The History of the Dunedain 

Enter the ruins and clear the spiders from inside the first "room" to give yourself some space.  Advance cautiously towards the back of the ruin until the marsh-queen aggros and walk back into the space you have killed before you attack her. It is important not to attack before you have pulled her out of the back room - if you attack whilst she is in the back her two brood-watchers will aggro (and if you're very unlucky a marsh-spider too) and the three (four) together are likely to kill you.

Ensure you have killed 6 marsh brood-watchers and 4 marsh-spiders and then return to the camp and speak to Edda to turn in Spiders in the Midgewater

Return to the Marshwater Fort and run into the area the marsh-queen was in and you will see a Door on your left, enter the Door to start Instance: To A Ranger's Aid (clear the first few spiders and then just run past the queen)

Complete the Instance and exit through the door Amdir takes - this will leave you on the western edge of the Marshes, run south towards Staddle and speak to Eldo to continue Ailing Hound

Run south-east to Constable Bolger and continue Falco's Garden. This will trigger an attack by Brigands, you must defeat 3 waves of 3 brigands and must not let the Constable die. He only has about 350 health and cannot take much damage so you need to make sure the brigands are all attacking you!

When you defeat the brigands Constable Bolger will tell you to tell Falco he is safe, return to Falco and do just that to complete Falco's Garden. Accept [14] Fixing Falco's Folly

Run south through the woods and enter the ruins of Ost Baranor and find Jasper Mudbottom in the south end of the ruins (he is lvl 13 signature and has a lvl 9 and 10 bandit protecting him). Kill the bandits first to reduce incoming damage then take out Jasper himself (this is not a very hard fight and definately does not require a fellowship!)

Run north towards Staddle and speak to Falco to turn in Fixing Falco's Folly

Ride north from Falco and up onto the hills over the lake then find and kill 3 Blackwold Thiefs (lvl 13 signature) and their leader Vance Whiteman (lvl 14 signature)

Return to Staddle and:

  • Speak to Himloc Grouse to turn in The Vigil
  • "Speak" to Gar to continue Ailing Hound and then to Longo to complete the quest. Accept [12] Unwell Water
  • Speak to Watcher Redweed to turn in Two Chieftains and accept [14] Report from Staddle
Run west from Staddle to Lily's House and speak to lily to turn in Unwell Water. Accept [12] The Wise Woman

Return to Staddle and use the well in the centre of town then run south-east with the bucket until you find Willowsong by Silverwell (32.3,47.4). Speak to her to complete The Wise Woman and accept [12] Fresh Flowers

Run south-west a few paces to collect 6 Wildflowers from around The Yellow Tree (32.7,48.0) then return to Willowsong to complete Fresh Flowers. Accept [12] All's Well that Ends Well 

Run back to Staddle with the bucket and approach the well to deliver the bucket then speak to Longo to compelte All's Well that Ends Well

Ride into Bree and speak to Second-watcher Heathstraw by the fountain to turn in Report from Staddle

Run north to the Prancing Pony and speak to Barliman to turn in Prologue: To A Ranger's Aid.

You have now completed the Prologue.... now onto Book 1!

Moria: The Silvertine Lodes (52-53)

This guide covers the Silvertine Lodes. It also covers a (small) part of Volume 2, Book 2 of the Epic Quest and assumes that you already have Book 2, Chapter 6. If you do not have this, please see my previous guide on The Great Delving.

The Deep Descent

Bridge into Silvertine Lodes
 Travel to the Deep Descent (Stable from Dolven-view or just run down the passage south of the stable master) and head down the stone staircase to find the Dwarves:
  • Speak to Thettmar to turn in To The Deep Descent 
  • Speak to Styrr to accept [52] Ore Samples 1: The Deep Desent and [52] Lost Dwarf
  • Speak to Falgir and accept [56] The Forgotten Treasury: A Relic of Ages Past. Speak to Garthar standing next to him then speak to Falgir again to turn in the quest and accept [56] TFT: Know Thine Enemy
Exit the camp and return to the stairway. Head south down the stairs and collect 8 Reddish Ore Samples

At the foot of the stairs take the eastern tunnel (left) to find Stiling. Turn in Enemies of the Deep Descent and accept [52] Lawlessness Among Goblins and [52]Armour of the Deeps

Continue down the tunnel into the Goblin camp of Gamil Filik:
  • Kill Gathrok (10.3,111.3)
  • Collect 4 Crude Maps at (10.1,111.8), (10.2,111.1), (10.4,111.3) and (10.5,111.2)
  • Kill 9 Goblins
  • Collect 7 Goblin armour-scraps (drop from goblins)
  • Collect 12 Swatches of Fabric (drop from goblins)
Return to Stiling and turn in Armour of the Deeps and Lawlessness Among Goblins. Accept [52] Dead Fall then use the Dark Passage next to Stiling. Head south from the crack and you will find the Dwarf-Made Dead Fall. Set the trap them walk through the doorway to find Pukhlor. Aggro him then run back through the doorway to catch him in the trap. 

Return north to the Dark Passage and use it to return to Stirling, speak to him to continue Dead-Fall.

Ride south from Stirling (across the path and up into the open land) and bear south-west to find Flik (10.9,112.2). Speak to him to turn in Lost Dwarf and accept [52] In Over His Head. Speak to him again to begin the escort quest (Flik has lots of health, it's a nice one!)

Check you bags for a Fractured Crystal. If you have one use it to accept [52] The Fractured Crystal

Return to The Deep Descent:
  • Speak to Styrr to turn in Ore Samples 1: The Deep Descent and In Over His Head
  • Speak to Thetmarr to turn in Dead-Fall and accept [52] Following the Winding Road
  • Speak to Falgir to turn in TFT:Know Thine Enemy and The Fractured Crystal (if you go the drop for this)
  • Falgir, Hafberg and Garthar will now offer 4 quests for The Forgotten Treasury instance. These need a full Fellowship to complete so only take them if you plan to run the instance.
The Mining Camp


The Mining Camp

Head back down the stairs and take the small tunnel west at the bottom then follow the winding road to the mining camp:
  • Speak to Thalfar to turn in Following the Winding Road and accept Reclaiming the Platform and The Miners of Memem-Brej
  • Speak to Gufi to accept [52] Bright Prospects, Dark Rails
Follow the railway track west from the camp and examine the dead-end. Backtrack to the cross roads and take the northern fork (past the mangled track) to locate the intact tunnel. Go back to the cross roads and continue down the southern fork to find the second dead-end. Return to the crossroads and go east to another crossroad then north to find the final dead end (10.6,113.4).

Head back down the track to the Signpost (10.7,113.4) and use it to post a sign. Go back to the western cross roads and post another sign (10.8,113.7) then head down the souther spur to post the final sign (11.0,113.7).

Return to the camp and speak to Gufi to turn in Bright Prospects, Dark Rails. Accept [52] They Mined too Fast and speak to him again to travel to the instance.  Work your way through the instance collecting Mining Picks - 5 are at ground level, the sixth is up on a raised platform near the end of the cave. When you have all 6 the instance completes, leave and return to Gufi and turn in They Mined too Fast.

Follow the railway line from the camp to the north-east, down into the mine of Menem-berej.  Collect the Crude Maps (sitting on little table on one of the platforms).

Climb onto the central platform (ramp at 11.1,113.0) and repair 8 gears. Collect 2 more Crude Maps (on tables on the north & south edges). Ensure you have killed 12 enemies then return to the camp.

Speak to Thalfar to turn in The Miners of Menem-Berej and Reclaiming the Platform. Accept [52] Lighting the Pit.

Return to the mining pit and light the lamps along the way. The path is as follows:
  • Take the railway down to the second landing (10.6,112.9) (1 lamp) 
  • Turn off onto the winding path which goes down and east. (2 lamps)
  • Take the wooden platform to teh south (1.9,112.7) and follow it around the edge of the mine, down under the main platrom (6 lamps).
  • Note this route if you plan to run Forgotten Treasury, the entrance to the instance is at the very bottom of the mine shaft.
Return to Thalfar once 9 lamps are lit and turn in Lighting the Pit. Accept [52] Sori's Exploration.

Before we move on take a short detour for the Epic: Leave the camp and climb up onto the hill to the north (so you are looking down at the camp). Head east onto a wooden platform to find the 4th Crude Map (10.5,112.9)ee

A Lone Explorer

Follow the railway east to the first crossroads then then south to find Sori (11.9,113.0). Speak to him to turn in Sori's Exploration and accept [52] Luminous Goop and [52] Ore Samples II: The Mine Shaft.

Head West and kill Deeps Glow-Worms until you collect 15 Goop and collect 8 Ore Samples from Yellow-Traced Ore.

Return to Sori and turn in Luminous Goop and Ore Samples II: The Mine-Shaft. Accept [52]Ore-Samples III: The Tunnel

Head slightly north and collect 3 Silvery Ore Samples from around the large support posts, then head south-east down the Tunnel and collect the remaining 5 samples.

Return to Sori and turn in Ore Samples III: The Tunnel. Accept [52] One Absent Miner.

Follow the railway down the tunnel where you collected Ore samples and find Nykr's Corpse (12.5,112.6). Examine it then kill the Dragonet which spawns (lvl 52, signature).

Return to Sori and turn in One Absent Miner. Accept [52] Following Ondott.

The Old Silvertine City


A Very Secret Door

Go back down the tunnel to the south-east and find the (not) very secret door. Go through the door to find Ondott in Old Silvertine City. Speak to him to turn in Following Ondott and accept [52] The Colours of Crystals, [52] Unwelcome Tunnellers and [52] Dragonets of the Old Silvertine City.

From now on kill Deep Claws on sight (10 total)

Descend the stairs and examine the Riddle at the bottom to accept [52] A Riddle in an Old City. Take the path to the south (left) and: at the end take the bridge to the right. Destroy 6 Filthy Nests.

Continue down the tunnel until it opens out into a chamber filled with crystals. Collect 9 Crystals (head east following the railway until you reach a large bridge then double-back and follow the railway north)

Return along the tunnel, past the nests, to the staircase you came down. Don't climb the stairs but cross the bridge to the south and follow the other pathway. Examine the Plaque with a Snake on (12.1,11.3) to complete A Riddle in An Old City then enter the room to the east and examine the plaque on the eastern wall to accept [52] Riddles in the Stone.  There are 6 Stone Chests in the room, examine the one by the correct symbol (Moon) to receive a key

 Kill 10 Dragonets.

Return to Ondott and turn in Riddles in the Stone, Dragonets of the Old Silvertine City, Unwelcome Tunnelers and The Colours of Crystals. Accept [52] Ore Samples IV: The Old Silvertine City

Head back down into the city, towards where you destroyed the nests, and collect 8 Blue-Tinged Ore

Return to Ondott and turn in Ore Samples IV: The Old Silvertine City. Accept [52] The Deep Descent Awaits the use Ondott's Goat to travel instantly to The Deep Descent.

Speak to Thettmarr to turn in The Deep Descent Awaits and accept [52] To The Chamber of the Crossroads.

Return to Dolven-View (run or take the stable) and continue your adventures in Durin's Way




Moria: The Great Delving (51-52)

This guide starts in Durin's Threshold in the Mines of Moria.  This guide includes Volume 2 Book 2 but you should be aware that the Epic quests in Moria don't fit particularly neatly with the rest of the questing (everything except the epics was revamped in 2012) and the quest levels are often off by a couple of levels.  I have put the Epic in at the best points I could find for it but a certain amount of running back and forth is unavoidable I'm afraid!

If you've been following my guides you already have the Foreword Quest for Book 2, if not then just skip over that - you can still follow the rest of the guide.

Note that your horses don't work in Moria so you will be doing a lot of running until you get a goat.  You will get a +32% speed goat when you complete the quest 'To Dolven View'.  A +65% speed goat can be obtained once Revered standing is obtained with the Iron Garrison Guards.  Rep is given in return for quests and tasks in Moria and can also be obtained from turning in (right-clicking) various dropped items such as Cracked Etchings and Worn Dwarf Carvings.

If you're a premium member you might consider paying 995TP for a Dusky Nimblefoot Goat from the store, if you're not premium then there are far better things to spend that TP on!

Durin's Threshold

Speak to Thormoth (on the right of the hall) and accept [51] Welcome to Moria

Speak to Gamli and accept [51] Bedbugs. Examine Gamli's Bed then speak to him again to turn in the quest

Speak to Rathulf and accept [51] Honouring the Fallen. Exit to The Black Pool and ride north to find the graves of the fallen dwarves. Place a banner in the Banner-Stand to honour them. Return to Rathulf and turn in Honouring the Fallen.

Climb the enormous stone staircase and, at the top, take the tunnel to the north.  Follow it around to the east and speak to Athils to accept [51] Setting up Shop. Collect 6 Dull Blades from the nearby weapon stands then use the forge (immediately north of Althils) to restore the blades. Speak to Athils to turn in the Setting Up Shop.

Return to Thormoth (jumping off the balcony is quickest) and turn in Welcome to Moria. Accept [31] An Ominous Tunnel.

Climb the enormous stone staircase again and continue east a few paces. Speak to Tubi Thickfist to turn in An Ominous Tunnel and accept [51] A Deep Place and [51] A Deep Thought.

Continue east down the tunnel and use the Dwarf-Axe on the floor to accept [51] In Pursuit.

Bear south to find the Chamber of Deep Thought and examine the Cocoon then defeat the lvl 51 signature spider which spawns.

Exit the chamber and head north, past the axe to find Kambi being threatened by a goblin. Kill the goblin and speak to Kambi to continue In Pursuit

Continue north into Shemeldurj. Descend until you find Dagfinn and speak to him to continue A Deep Place. Search 6 piles of Promising Debris (there are more back up the tunnel if you run out) then speak to Dagfinn again to continue the quest.

Return to Tubi (south, then west at the axe) and turn in In Pursuit, A Deep Place and A Deep Thought. Accept [51] A Watchful Glance.

Head east and follow the winding path downwards (begins just to the right of the axe) until you find Jarmarr.

Speak to Jarmarr to accept [51] Sealing the Gate, [51] Rumours in the Tunnels and [51] Stealing Back.

Head into the goblin camp until you receive a message confirming you have found the encampment, exit the camp immediately and return to Jarmarr to turn in A Watchful Glace

Return to the goblin camp and work your way through the camp (heading downhill):

  • Kill 4 Goblin Messengers
  • Kill 10 Goblin Soldiers
  • Collect 8 Stolen Coins (drop from all goblins)

Exit the camp though the eastern exit at the bottom of the slop (i.e. not the one you came in through!) and follow the path uphill to find Wegil. Speak to him to turn in Sealing the Gate, Rumours in the Tunnels and Stealing Back. Accept [51] Ever Forward.

Continue along the uphill path to the camp of Lamab-dum

An Epic Excursion (Part 1)

Climb the stairs to the right to reach Dolven-view
The Epic quest line in Moria is a little out of sync with the rest of the quests as it wasn't revamped with the rest of the zone - to avoid too much back & forth we need to take a quick detour:

Ride East from Lamab-dum and climb the southern stairs then follow the path up into the mountains to Dolven-view.
  • Speak to Bennt Sharp-Eye (by the Milestone) to continue the Foreword to Book 2 
  • Speak to the stable master to get the stable path.
From the stable master, take the small tunnel directly south of his position, across the bridge of the Stone Council to the Silvertine Lodes. Speak to Thettmar to continue B2: Foreword. Accept [52] Enemies of the Deep Descent and then buy a ride back to Dolven-view (or run)



From Dolven-View, exit to the north, down the stairs to Gazatmur.  Run past all the mobs until you find Wigfast cowering by a monument, go down the stairs behind him then continue straight on and up another flight of stairs. Cross the bridge and pass through Dwarf Lords Gate. Once in the hall on the other side, continue until you see an Iron Garrison Guide then take the passageway north  to enter Durin's Way. After descending the stairs turn right (east) and continue descending to find Manarbul. Turn north and head through a small guarded passage to reach Chamber of the Crossroads.
  • Speak to Bosi to turn in Book 2: Foreword and accept [53]B2,C1: New Residents
  • Speak to Styrlak to get the stable path and purchase a ride back to Dolven-View
Ride back to Lamab-dum and continue below

Speak to Swerthir to turn in Ever Forward and accept [51] An Ancient Hope
Speak to Thorhall and accept [51] Scent of the Hive and [51] The Noies of the Gredbyg

Run south along the causeway to The Vault of Durin. Search 4 Valut Remnants then return north to Lamab-dum. Speak to Swerthir to turn in An Ancient Hope

Run north along the causeway to The Palace of Nain.
  • Kill 12 Grodbog
  • Collect 10 Grodbog scent-glands (drop from Grodbog)s
  • Examine the Unusual Fungus (6.4,11.3) and accept [51] New Growth
Return to Thorhall and continue New Growth and turn in Scent of the Hive and The Noise of the Gredbyg. Accept [51] The Hive-Queen.

Return north to The Palace of Nain and interact with the Hive Nest (6.5,113.4) to summon the Hive Queen (lvl 51 signature). Kill the Queen.

Return to Thorhall and turn in The Hive Queen and accept [51] To The Dolven-View.

An Epic Excursion (Part 2)

Dismount Here!

Ride East from Lamab-dum and climb the southern stairs then follow the path up into the mountains to Dolven-view

Buy a ride from the stable master to Chamber of the Crossroads and speak to Bosi to turn in B2C1: New Residents and accept [53] B2C2:Store-Houses of the Western Halls

Buy a ride back to Dolven-view. When you reach the start of the goblin camp dismount  (see image) and head into the small room to the west (7.5,111.9). Examine the Old Strongbox in the Chamber of Knowledge.

Exit the chamber and ride south and up the stairs.  Keep climbing stairs until you return to Dolven View.

Exit Dolven View to the east and head back towards Lamab-dum. Keep following the narrow lighted path (don't go down the big staircase) around in a loop until you reach the Chamber of Wisdom (7.8,112.3). Enter and examine the old strongbox.

Return to Dolven-view and buy a ride to Durin's Threshold. Dismount when you reach the end of the winding path and run south into the Chamber of Deep Thought (8.3,114.9).

Exit and run north then west into Durin's Threshold and buy a ride back to Chamber of the Crossroads. Speak to Bosi to turn in B2C2 and accept [53]B2C3: Zigilburk the Unrivaled.

Climb the stairs to the east and go through the large door to enter The Chamber of Command. Speak to Bori to continue the quest. Exit the room and buy a ride back to Dolven-View

Dolven-View

OPTIONAL: Speak to Asgil (8.4,112.3) to reforge your legendary weapons

Speak to Slagvi (8.2,112) to turn in To The Dolven View (and receive you free Goat Mount (find it from Character Pane -> Skills -> Mounts)

Speak to Wafri (8.4,111.9) to turn in New Growth and accept [51] Claws of the Deep.

Speak to Sot (just to the east) to accept [51] Clear Tunnels and [51] The Road is Ours.

The Cooling Chamber... take path to the right
Ride east across the bridge Sot is standing by.  When you reach the buildings on the other side (The Cooling Chamber) take the small path to the south, around the buildings and follow it downhill until it opens out into an area with buildings. On your way:

  • Clear 8 piles of Rubble
  • Defeat 12 Deep-Claws

Path opens out... take stairs up to right

When the path opens out take the stairs up to the right (east) into Zelem-Melek and place the Dwarf Banner in the stand on the Lonely Span

Return to Dolven-View and speak to Wafri to turn in Claws of the Deep.

Speak to Sot to turn in Clear Tunnels and The Road is Ours.

Speak to Slagvi (to the north) to accept [51] Scouting Ahead

To the east of Slagvi there are 2 guards standing by what looks like a sheer drop (8.2,111.9). Get closer and you'll find it's a staircase. Descend to the bottom of the stairs to enter Gazatmur and ride north to find Wigfast (7.7,111.8). Speak to him to turn in Scouting Ahead and accept [51] Enemies Forever and [51] And Stay Out!
Goblin Camp - go down stairs and kill things here
Head east, down a flight of stairs, into the Goblin Camp and:

  • Kill 10 Goblins
  • Destroy 10 Food-Stores
  • Keep an eye on your bags for a "Mark of the White Hand" drop and use it to accept [51] Servant of the White Hand
  • Defeat the Lieutenant of the White Hand (patrols in a square around the courtyard)

Speak to Wigfast and turn in Enemies Forever, And Stay Out! and Servant of the White Hand. Accept [51] Goblin Overseers and [51] Shaky Foundations.


  • Head north and destroy the Support Post (7.5,111.7) and kill the nearby Moria Overseer
  • Head south and destroy the Support Post (7.8,111.8)
  • Head west and destroy the Support Post (7.9,111.6) and kill the nearby Moria Overseer
  • Go back and kill the first Overseer again (there are plenty of others around but this ones easiest to get to)


Return to Wigfast and turn in Shaky Foundations and Goblin Overseers. Accept [51] A Long Echo

Go down the stairs behind Wigfast then run north, up another flight of stairs. At the top head west to find a Rucksack (7.0,112.1). Examine the rucksack to continue the quest. Examine the nearby Dropped Journal to accept [51] Opening the Waterways and [51] Securing the Library.

The Library

Take the causeway east into the Library (7.0,111.3) and examine the Fallen Plaque just outside the entrance.

Don't go in (yet) but retrace your steps to the Rucksack then go along the bridge to the north and throw the two Waterway-Levers at the midpoint.  Continue north to Chamber of the Crossroads. Enter the small room and speak to Bori to turn in B2C3. Accept [53]B2C4: Enemies in the Ever Dark.

Return to the Library
  • Just inside the entrance examine Falgeirr's Papers to accept [51] Riddles in the Library.
  • Mid-way along the northern wall examine the Ancient Dwarf-Text
  • Kil3 12 Deep-claw and Cave-claws
  • Search Deep-claw nests until you find some Rotting Pages (note that there are 2 additional nests up the stairs in the main room)
Exit the library and return to Chamber of the Crossroads. Enter the small room and speak to Bori to turn in B2C4. Accept [43]B2C5: Half a Riddle.

Speak to Brogur (in the corner of the same room) and turn in B2C5 and accept [54]B2C6: Goblins in the Western Halls

Buy a ride back to Dolven-view and:
  • Speak to Wafri to turn in Opening the Waterways
  • Speak to Sot to turn in Riddles in the Library and Securing the Library
  • Speak to Slagvi to turn in A Long Echo and accept [51] The Cooling Chamber and [52] To the Deep Descent.
Speak to Slagvi again to travel to the Cooling Chamber instance
  • Use the summoning horn (just down the stairs) to summon Slagvi. Speak to him to continue the instance
  • Head down the stairs and clear the platform by the water tank
  • Follow the path around the edge of the tank (either way is fine) and, on the far side, climb the stairs to find the Moria Chieftain (lvl 51 Elite) and kill it
  • Throw the Jammed Lever
  • Repair the Rusted Gear
  • Fix the stuck wheel 
  • Talk to Slavi to complete the instance and then exit it (right-click portrait, Leave Instance)

Return to Dolven-view and speak to Slagvi to turn in The Cooling Chamber.

We're done with The Great Delving so now it's time to explore The Silvertine Nodes (We will continue Book 2 here, don't worry that it's not finished yet)
